Questions about appointments?
How do I book an appointment as a new client?
Send us an email at info@raisinglittlesprouts.ca with a little bit about the support you are looking for. Please include your child's full name and birthdate. We will create an account on our online booking system for you then you'll receive a welcome email from the system. From there you will book a free 15 minute phone consultation where we will discuss your child's support needs and scheduling to determine which of our team members is the best fit for your family. We'll also answer any questions you may have. Then we will book an initial assessment appointment! You will receive a link to complete our online intake form. After the initial assessment is booked, you will be able to book follow up appointments online at your convenience!
What do appointments include? How long are they?
Our initial assessment appointments are 90 minutes long, which provides ample time to discuss your child's strengths and interests, developmental history, challenges and goals. We will get to know your child, getting down to their level and allowing them to engage at their comfort level. Once goals have been set collaboratively between you and the therapist, we'll provide recommendations/suggestions to start working on moving forward.
Follow up appointments are 60 minutes long. We structure our sessions around child-led purposeful play activities that work towards the goals set collaboratively in the initial assessment appointments. We'll also take some time to catch up with you, get an update on any changes or progress, and provide coaching/modelling for specific skills to work with your child.
Where do appointments take place? Do you have a clinic?
We are a mobile clinic, so we come to you! Initial assessments are typically completed at home, then follow up appointments can occur at home, daycare, or at school. We want to see your child in their day to day environments where they feel the most comfortable, and where they are experiencing challenges.
Do I need to prepare anything prior to our appointment? Should I find childcare for any other children in the home?
The short answer is no! We want to get to know your child and family in their natural environment and within your family dynamic. If you think it would be best to have other children out of the house during appointments, that is okay as well however we are very used to working within busy family dynamics and are able to include siblings as needed.
How often do you suggest booking follow up appointments?
At the end of the day, that is completely up to you as a family to decide. We never want to pressure a family to book more often than needed, and we don't assume anyone's insurance coverage, budget, or availability. We see children as often as once a week and as little as once every few months. Typically we suggest every 2-4 weeks in the beginning to ensure we are making progress and providing lots of support to you as a family.
Questions about billing?
Will you direct bill my insurance provider?
Not at this time. After payment has been received a receipt will be provided that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
How do I know if my insurance plan covers your services?
Therapy services are typically listed under the extended health portion of your policy manual. Claims must be made under the correct professional title, ex. occupational therapy services must be claimed under occupational therapy and can not be submitted under another service like counselling.
Do you take clients who have funding from an organization like Variety or Jordan's Principle?
Typically yes! Sometimes this takes a little more planning, so please send us an email to discuss.
